As a dad who’s formed his family through adoption, I very much appreciate that you not only corrected there was no leave for fathers, but you also recognized that families are formed in different ways. Thanks for putting in that work. It IS important, very important, even if it gets no attention. Thanks!
The combination of humor, intelligence, and competence is so refreshing. I'll echo all the calls to continue receiving updates like this regardless of where you end up in 2025.
OMG! You're my hero! My father was in the Army Air Corp, Army Corp of Engineers (civil service), & an Army Reservist until retirement. He would be so proud of your work Jeff. My husband is a Vietnam vet. And we adopted our son 27 years ago. Your story brings tears to my eyes!
Sure! At least here in CA. 5th graders study state government but learn about the 3 branches and how they work. Then middle school is a US gov unit. Then in our HSs, there’s a semester long course on US government. There’s also an AP Class called AP Gov.
At a Neighbors on Call meeting last night in Durham I learned about canvassing and signed up to help Feb.3 in Raleigh.
When I asked if your candidacy for Attorney General would be part of what we discuss with residents, I was informed that we stick to the talking points provided.
I hope you can provide a few words to these state campaigns to boost your efforts.
Thanks for the update, Jeff. I understand the current congress has passed the fewest bills, save one term, in US history. This is an unfortunate reflection on the sad condition of our discordant, politically- and socially-polarized society. I'm hoping the stark contrast between the dictatorship that Drumph seeks and the (aspirational) democracy that America has enjoyed (since 1788 when the US Constitution was ratified) will be realized by voters in Nov. '24.
Meanwhile, thank you for all you have done personally to protect and advance American democracy. That, I will add, includes the thoughtful gesture of publicly giving flowers to a valued colleague. A little honest diplomacy goes a long way.
Wow wow wow. You are amazing and thank you for this explanation of your amendment. Kudos to your hardworking staff too. If I were younger I’d definitely run for office and use you as a mentor.
Are you the same age as McConnell? How about Grassley? Pelosi? I could go on, but you get my point. RUN!!! If it wasn't for this damned cancer, I'd sure be out on the stump!
Keep up the excellent work... we so badly need more representatives like yourself... dedicated to the hard work and reasonable compromises required to improve our great country.
Knowing how to overcome obstacles, find the right help & dedicated support, being able to adapt quickly, and remain persistent is how things get done! Thank you for your effort for all of these future fathers!

What a succinct and clear description of the headache of legislating. I'll be assigning this letter to my students next quarter.
"I should make a monthly habit of just randomly bringing flowers onto the House floor because it caused such a delightful commotion."
Yes, yes you should. It would be legendary!
Way to go Jeff! This is how things get done...hard work.

This should be a lesson in every US government class in America. Thank you for the hard work and for serving! Can’t wait for your next adventure!
There’s a government class? 😉

Well this Congress seems to have spent a lot of time on important things like impeachment and payback. You know. Things they were elected for.
So much red tape, but thank you for your persistence!

Can’t wait to see you on the campaign trail!
Congrats! This just shows that hard work and dedication pay off!!
Why is it so difficult to navigate a bill that should have already been passed? Too much red tape in our system! Just saying!
Great keeping us informed! Love it!!
