This method (along with the videos) of communicating with a member's constituency should be mandatory in both houses of congress. And, like yours, they should strike an air of bipartisanship, rather than the more-common "we're saints, they are demons" approach so in vogue these days. Many thanks for raising the bar!

Your maturity and professionalism are a breath of fresh air. Wish we could find this kind of cooperation elsewhere in government. Appreciate also your foresight in seeing the dangers of AI and working toward safeguards.

Thank you, Jeff! It’s so great to Congresspeople working with each other, instead of fighting!

Dear Rep. Jackson. Thanks again for your information updates. They are well done, concise and relevant to the "current" issues that are important. Like you, I believe that AI offers tremendous potential for advancement yet there also need to be guardrails to insure the accuracy and veracity of its use plus defined penalties for the misuse/abuse of the this technology. So my question is how do you put those guardrails in place without this becoming yet another political stand-off?

As someone who doesn’t live in your district, I just want to thank you for communicating with North Carolinians who cannot yet vote for you. Hopefully, that day will come !

Refreshing views and love the work across the aisle. I’m one who’s Wary of AI and all of the Bad possible things that can happen. Hacking and weaponizing etc.

I am SO thankful for your analysis of AI. I know zip about it, but feel very wary. Your commonsense, intelligent approach to the subject AND working across the aisle is so inspiring. We need more like you and less cat-fighting individuals in our Congress. Thanks for your newsletter and, you are a beast at base-sliding!

AI is such huge deal that no wonder it feels like a bunch of smart guys and gals flapping their arms. For some it’s a shrug and for others it’s the end of the world (reminds me of another big world event that happened not too long ago). I’m old enough to recognize hype when I see it and most of what’s being spread about is just that. Not that it doesn’t have the potential to do harm or good. Not that it shouldn’t be addressed by Congress (but most haven’t even used ChatGPT! Yikes!). I appreciate that you are attending to this important issue but how it affects are daily lives is still an unknown quantity. All most of us can do is wait and see.

Bless and thank you for living as one of the better angels of Congress: there’s Madison Cawthorn, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Kevin McCarthy, and there’s Adam Schiff, Jamie Raskin, and you.

Thanks for explaining where Congress stands on AI and for reaching across party lines to begin working on legislation. Keep it up Jeff!

An Israeli professor, Yuval Harari, wrote on AI and its effects on human civilization and our evolution as a species in 2018. I strongly suggest you look into his book, Homo Deus for an historical viewpoint.

AI scares the heck out of me. It is a big topic with my author, film, and artists friends. I believe acting sooner rather than later is better. Before we end up in trouble because AI took over.

My cynical opinion,

Hope
