Sadly true and sadly timeless. Aaron Sorkin and Rob Reiner's film "The American President" came out in 1995. 30 years ago Sorkin had already pinpointed the GOP strategy of selecting issues, but rather than suggesting solutions, "making you afraid of it and telling you who's to blame for it."
In a way I almost feel sometimes like Aaron Sorkin is hazardous to our psychies. He makes us want to believe that rational, articulate, nuanced arguments will actually sway people and win out over fear mongering and sound bites.
I protested in Newton yesterday for Josh Stein watching despicable Mark Robinson sneak in the back door. Kept on bringing up your name, Jeff, cuz you are da MAN. Can't wait to vote for all my peeps.

Who would have ever thought we would have to write a bill to stop bribery of politicians/elected leaders when we all know it is bribery. Good luck with the passing of it.
