Your opponent comes across as a Maga , not a Republican. I'm a moderate, independent voter. Your opponent is , obviously, part of the " good ol boy " community if he's really backed by so many sheriff's. That doesn't fly with me as I know of far too many skeletons in some sheriff's closets. But I'll keep that to myself. This year I am going ALL Blue. I'm glad I learned more about you. I wasn't going to vote for your opponent anyway but , from everything I've learned about you , I feel quite comfortable in giving you my vote. May the Good Lord Bless NC and ALL of the USA with leaders who will get along and be grown ups.

I'm sure most of us recall the warning, "Nice guys finish last." Perhaps that's a bit of hyperbole but I think Jeff can be a bit tougher on Dan Bishop. Specifically, mentioning that it was Bishop who orchestrated the "Bathroom Act" which made North Carolina the nation's laughingstock and losing significant revenue from major businesses that decided to opt out of relocating here because of the Act. And, unlike other political ads we've seen, it would be true.

To me, the word “woke” means “became aware.” It’s no accident that the Republicans use it as an insult. The worst thing that can happen to the Republicans is for voters to become aware, since people with knowledge and understanding are not likely to vote for them.

My parents, aunts and uncles were all Republicans, they're all passed now, but would never support what has become of the GOP.

I'm old, but am fortunate that six of my elders - all in their 80's and 90's - are still alive.

Four of the six were dedicated Republicans and NOT ONE of them are voting for the GOP this year. They don't recognize the party. Even my uncle who is on the trumpy side due to racism has flipped after trump so profoundly disrespected veterans and the GOP continued to lick his boots.

I feel the same way, when they first started using the term Woke, I asked if I’m woke and your not woke doesn’t that mean your asleep? I’m ok with being woke! 🐱

May we all be WOKE! Vote! Be BLUE!

Please bring up the point that Bishop voted against funding for FEMA. You have my vote!

Expand full comment

HE DID WHAT! As a retired employee of NC Dept of CC&PS , who worked on many disasters, we couldn't have done our jobs without the quick and continued support of FEMA.

Expand full comment

Unfortunately, that is indeed true. We had over 80 Republicans that voted against FEMA funding. And yes, Mark Robinson was the only Council of State member not to vote on Gov. Cooper’s request to declare a state of emergency for NC, but was the first to call Cooper to deploy more resources to help people in western NC. Classic Republicans!!

Plus he's aligned himself with Robinson! Thar alone disqualifies him!

Great ad (donated what I could- hope you raise tons). I've seen Bishop's ads and they are total nonsense. We believe in you and I believe most people in our state are ready to move to a more civilized, more productive political landscape. Thanks for everything you do.

Recently I obtained my sample nc ballot. I had noticed this before but never had an opportunity to ask anyone why. In District 32 Court we are only provided with a solitary candidate and no write-in option for all 6 judge seats as well as the DA. All provided candidates are Republicans. How is that an election? Why are there no options? How is that court balanced? How is this democratic at all?

From what I've been reading republicans have gerrymandered so many states that this happens in a lot of places. It's prob why we're in the situation we're in now. I'm not sure what we can do about it.

Not sure either, those Republicans are slippery devils.

As an unaffiliated voter who now votes for Democrats, it really burns me to see uncontested seats on a ballot; and it’s always Democrats who haven’t convinced people to run for those positions. I can’t remember when republicans have open positions for anything. Heck, they’ll drag out any old body to run these days. It’s maddening especially now when we need good people to fill these positions. I don’t know if it’s a matter of money, fear of having to field hate, gerrymandering or what, but we have got to do better or NC will turn red by default.

Expand full comment

The hate has a lot to do with it. I'm surprised the GOP has anyone running since they turn on each other like rabid coyotes the second a representative voices a differing opinion. If we focus on vote Blue no matter who , eventually, more Democrats will be enticed to run in elections. They will feel like , even though they have to beat someone in a primary , that they really aren't alone in the big picture.

It’s the “no matter who” that can get problematic. Case in point was a seat in Charlotte for the Legislature. The candidate ran as a pro-choice Democrat which would have given Democrats at least one more vote. However, once she took her oath she defected to the other side. Talk about pissified; her constituents certainly were. Don’t know if she’s since been gerrymandered into a safe district but it wouldn’t surprise me in the least. That’s the way they roll in Raleigh these days. So you see, we still have to be careful who we recruit to represent us.

In my observation it's usually because the other party knows they will lose so they don't bother. My ex is running in a red district and knows he will lose but wants to put in an appearance anyway. In Ohio. Way down ballot!

I just checked my sample ballot and see that for NC House District 31 and NC District Court Judge District 16 Seat 7 there are sole Democrats listed with no space for a write in vote as there are in other races. I suppose that this is a result of the extreme gerrymandering that the NC GOP foisted on us. These two must be two of the districts that the GOP "gave" to the Democrats. That there is no space for a write in vote seems badly amiss.

Expand full comment

Interesting that there is also a district with just Democrat candidates. Is is for all seats? For District 32 it is all 6 seats AND the DA. Half and half seems more logical and candidates from all parties for DA. But who am I to expect logic to apply.

There should always be room for a write-in vote don't you think?

Absolutely

Upping my monthly donation now. We need this to be a strong decisive win! Let’s leave the extremism & outsized voices of foreign interference & bots to the others.

Pretty cool on the NYT exposure, but I don’t trust them at all. The next thing you know they’ll be the ones running the smear campaign through weird “both sides” nonsense, leading to and bigger attacks on you. Keep your guard up. More exposure = more nonsense.

The "Vote for my Dad" ad is great, but not as good as the new one which is right on target. Just saw it here in Washington, NC around Noon, 10/10/2024

What an emotionally mature approach to the mayhem, and to the opportunity arising from chaos. I am so sorry I missed your Wilmington fundraiser with the Coggins.

I have been following you for quite awhile now. I find you refreshing and honest as compared to most politicians. I do love your insight on the inner workings in the house. You usually don’t name names. You cut to the reality of the situation and that is also refreshing. I have donated to your campaign multiple times because of your approach. Also, I am a registered Independent. I will be voting early for you for what you stand for. Thank you for being real. I am also not a fan of Mr. Bishop for many reasons I will not go into here. I know you are the best fit for Attorney General. Thank you for your updates!

A big fan of yours here.

Dan Bishop is MAGA. His record is lock-step with the GOP. The GOP House is in chaos and has no accomplishments to show for itself; they cannot even pass a budget. They gripe about illegal immigration and had opportunity to fix it, but followed Trump's demand to kill it. He voted against a CR to fund FEMA. This is what voters need to know--maybe your ads address his ineffectiveness, but I haven't seen any.

Just emailed your opponent to ask him to verify his sources for his blatant lies. It'll be interesting to see if I get a reply. When you're elected, can you get a law pass to ban political ads that are nothing but lies?

Interesting to hear that Bishop is 'blanketing the airwaves', because the only ads I've seen, two so far, are yours. Both are great. You come across very well and have the calm, positive demeanor so many voters who are sick of the vitriol and extremism are looking for.

This close to early, in-person voting, I expected the races to tighten up, but our candidates' races are heading in the right direction. I'd rather be us than them. Keep up the good work, Jeff. We've got you!
