Thank you so much. Can we please limit the number of data centers in NC? They have been shown to also cause extensive changes to the environment and to the communities surrounding the data centers. NC needs to protect its citizens and the environment. We have lovely rolling hills and flat lands. We don’t need this lovely land populated with data centers.
Thanks, Jeff, for fighting against Duke Power. As for Data Centers, I don’t want ANY built. They are energy and water hogs and an environmental nightmare.
Duke Energy’s net income increased 11.59% in 2025 over 2024. It was 4.91 billion in 2025. Gross profit was 23.20 billion, 12.68% increase from 2024. CEO’s base salary was 1.3 million plus compensation package with it all totally upwards of 14 million annually. My my. Curious what their lobbying budget is. A serious evaluation is in order while the consumer struggles to keep the lights on. I agree that data centers are an environmental nightmare and severely limited.
I’m a retired PA and am extremely proud of the professional care I gave to oncology patients in NC. Amazed that Trump has tried to “deprofessionalize” us with a stroke of the pen and make getting a PA education unaffordable now.
What if every business did this? Oh, I'm sorry, our top line might have to go down if we don't raise prices. Are you kidding me? Profits get reinvested so that you can continue to do business. It's even called "the cost of doing business," for gosh sakes. You don't hold your executives' salaries at astronomical figures and keep jacking up your customer's bills.
What if all companies were held to a standard of 10% profit and no more? That is greater than the usual cost of living increases. If properly audited and regulated, poverty would be eliminated overnight.
You are KILLING it, Atty General Jackson. It's amazing what can be done by a Democrat in this pivotal office, even in the face of a GOP-controlled GA. Thank you!
Thank you for having the backs of the people of NC, Jeff. Change is inevitable but the average citizen should not bear the burden of higher monthly utility bills and lost money for public services due to massive sales tax exemptions and property tax abatements for corporations (not to mention the environmental impact on local water resources). Thank you for your advocacy and for keeping your eyes on the ball! PS. Avery’s note to her future self made me smile. Her head and her heart are in the right place. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! It bothers me so much to read my Duke Energy's assessment every month showing where I should cut back my electricity use each month. I'm supposed to go around each evening unplugging everything that isn't being used while I sleep, or taking a 5 minute shower, etc, while DE wants another raise for profit and wants me to pay for data center electricity? I don't think so. Thank you again!!
Please keep fighting Duke. We cannot afford for our bill to be raised. We just can't.
Data Centers need a LOT of hoops they must jump through. They cannot be near anywhere residential. There is one down in GA that is 500 yards from a house and the people cannot even use tap water because it comes out of the faucet as brown sludge. Data Centers are destroying the ecological systems of the surroundings areas by dumping contaminated water from cooling the servers. They must find a way to purify the water and reuse it. The burden is on them, not us. Keep them from destroying our land.
Then change those rules that allow a monopoly what if every one did that? fair? heck no. How was this allowed to happen?? Duke Energy gives a break to no one, if data centers are behind some of the reasoning then make them pay for it, Not your average citizen.
That's another thing our State government needs to stop or make totally visible the contributions from all businesses. Actually should be not allowed that's where bias begins/
Maybe we should slow down growth a little bit instead of relying on Duke to supply everybody we allow into the state or the country for that matter to have access to electricity
When your power goes out during a storm, I don’t see you getting a bill for being on the part of the electric grid that was out.
Bottom line up front over what period of time do they plan on asking customers to pay 15% additional for their power?

I just wrote a similar diatribe. The water they super heat destroys the surrounding ecological systems. It's not right.
Amen!

Dear AG Jackson,
Thank you for all that you do.
These are 2 issues dear to me.

Totally agree!

Please stop the insanity! Help us have access to alternative clean power sources that are affordable!
Please keep fighting Duke. We cannot afford for our bill to be raised. We just can't.

Have y’all seen the profits the oil companies are making during this war???
Thank you so much for protecting those folks who do so much for us and please keep your eyes wide open for those sneaky data centers.
Thank you for all your hard work. It is greatly appreciated!!
Way to go, Avery! And keep being kind and thoughtful!
(And as Andrew Jackson once said: "Anyone who can only find one way to spell a word lacks imagination!")
You go girl!
Consider yourself virtually high-fived. ;-)
Did you know that, after himself of course, Old Hickory is Trump's favorite president?
There's no one, after himself, who's his favorite!
Ah. Okay. Thanks for that… attention to that comment.
Then change those rules that allow a monopoly what if every one did that? fair? heck no. How was this allowed to happen?? Duke Energy gives a break to no one, if data centers are behind some of the reasoning then make them pay for it, Not your average citizen.
Duke Energy bought politicians like Carla Cunningham who along with Republicans let Duke whatever they wanted. In Precinct 145 we replaced Cunningham.
That's another thing our State government needs to stop or make totally visible the contributions from all businesses. Actually should be not allowed that's where bias begins/
Thank you for all you do. Most importantly for keeping all of us informed.
Maybe we should slow down growth a little bit instead of relying on Duke to supply everybody we allow into the state or the country for that matter to have access to electricity
